This species from Spain is a great beginner Isopod that can do well in arid or tropical environments. Due to how hard their outer layer is, they are not recommended as feeders! However they are the longest living isopod with lifespans up to 9 years! They are called the hissing pillbug because they rub their legs together while rolled up to produce a very quiet hissing noise.
