This species of isopod is also called the samurai isopod for boasting beautiful coloring and having many segmented plates. It hails from southeast Asia and is now called Shiro Utsuri to match a koi fish with similar coloration and markings. They do well in semi-arid or temperate environments and have a standard breeding rate for most isopods.
